PSWC Registration is Due Tomorrow!

PSWC Registration is due tomorrow, Wednesday 1/29! This includes the following items:

We will have a representative in the KAP Lobby from 10am - 6pm tomorrow, Wednesday 1/29, to collect your PSWC payments and membership dues. If you filled out the membership form and/or paid dues last semester those are still valid.

Thanks to everyone who's already turned everything in! You should receive an email confirming your PSWC registration status soon.

All of our design teams have meetings this week, and we have lots of other events and opportunities, listed below. Check them out once you're done with PSWC registration!

USC ASCE EBoard Opportunity

Are you interested in being a USC ASCE EBoard officer next year? We're opening the opportunity for a few people to shadow current officers this semester to help us organize events and gain experience in what we do. The goal is for potential future board members to see what different roles are available in order to facilitate the decision to run for a position, in addition to gaining valuable leadership experience in an unofficial capacity.*Please note that shadowing an officer will have no impact on your ability to run or be elected for an officer position.* Please email or talk to a current EBoard member for more information.

Concrete Canoe pour day is coming up quickly! Attendance is required for all canoe team members and strongly encouraged for all other design team members, so don't schedule anything for that day!

This is a great way to get to know the rest of ASCE and for new members to get involved. We'll have food and fun!

ASCE Scholarships

ASCE Scholarships are out for LA Section and MLAB! The applications are all pretty straightforward (1-2 page essays double-spaced). For the past couple years, many of the scholarship recipients were USC Students.

LA YMF's 15th Annual Student Night and Job Fair (SNJF) will be held onFriday, March 7, 2014 at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, in Downtown Los Angeles. This event gathers over 200 students from the 11 local universities in the ASCE LA Section region (Cal Baptist, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, CSUF, CSULA, CSULB, CSUN, LMU, UCI, UCLA, USC) as well as other universities in the Greater Los Angeles region. This annual event serves to recognize outstanding students from these local 11 universities with scholarships and awards, to provide our engineering students with the opportunity to find employment, and to facilitate interactions among employers, young professionals, and students from the 11 local universities.

If your company currently has open job opportunities and/or is looking for an opportunity to network with some of the brightest and most talented civil engineering students within the Greater Los Angeles area, then we encourage you to consider sponsoring and attending our event.

LA YMF Hyperion Treatment Plant Tour

The Explore Your City series returns! You are invited to join ASCE LA YMF for a tour of the City of Los Angeles' Hyperion Treatment Plant onThursday, February 20, 2014 at 10am. The City and County of San Francisco is seeking student interns for various architecture/engineering disciplines, to provide support to in-house Engineering • Architecture • Landscape Architecture • Planning • Surveying • GIS • ITT staff. The City Departments that employ interns are the Airport Commission (SFO), Department of Building Inspection (DBI), MTA Municipal Railway (Muni), MTA Department of Parking and Traffic (DPT), Port of San Francisco (Port), Public Utilities Commission (PUC), Department of Public Works (DPW), and Recreation and Park Department (RPD). Interns will gain on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced professional engineers, architects, planners and surveyors. Interns will participate in various activities in the respective City Departments.
