USC ASCE Banner - 1st General Meeting

Hi ,

Thanks to everyone who came out to our first meeting! You can find a refresher of what we covered below.

Membership forms are now available here. You can submit the membership dues to our mailbox in KAP 213, to one of our officers, or at an upcoming meeting.

Join us for PSWC info sessions this week on Thursday from 5:30-6pm or 6-6:30 or Friday from 12-12:30 (they're all the same) to learn more about our design teams: concrete canoe, steel bridge, and environmental design. Meet in the (center) KAP lobby.

Our first guest speaker meeting is on Monday, 9/16 from 6:30-8pm in KAP (room TBA). Join us for dinner and for guest speaker Jessica McLean, Executive Director of the Bringing Back Broadway initiative.

Finally, RSVP forms for our first community service event are now available; we'll be helping build a new edible garden at Vine Street Elementary on Saturday, 9/28 (non-football-home-gameday) from 9-3. The details for all of our upcoming events are listed below.

We have lots of events coming up, and design teams haven't even started yet! To help everyone keep track of all of our opportunities we've created a set of USC ASCE calendars that you can subscribe to, check them out!

PSWC Info Sessions

Join us on Thursday from 5:30-6pm or 6-6:30 or Friday from 12-12:30 (they're all the same) to learn about PSWC, the ASCE Pacific Southwest Conference. This is your first change to find out more about our design teams (concrete canoesteel bridge, and environmental), and to get involved! Meet in the (center) KAP lobby.

The design teams will begin to assemble and hold meetings in the next few weeks, so this is your chance to find out about all of them!

First Speaker Meeting: Bringing Back Broadway

We're hosting a guest speaker in a joint event with ITE on Monday from 6:30-8pm (location TBA). Jessica McLean, Executive Director of Bringing Back Broadway, will tell us about the initiative. We'll have dinner for everyone too, of course!

Build an Edible Garden

Vine St. Elementary Community Service: Edible Garden

We'll be helping build a new edible garden at Vine Street Elementary! This volunteer event is organized by Enrich LA, a nonprofit organization aimed to benefit students and communities through building gardens at schools. Our tasks may range from “gardening, to carpentry, to plumbing, to sign painting and really whatever it takes to install a garden.”

This is a great way to help the community while bonding with your fellow ASCE friends as well as other volunteers. The event is on Saturday, 9/28 from 9-3 (no home football game that day). Lunch will be provided!

Please RSVP here by Friday, 9/20 (note that you also need to RSVP to Enrich LA, follow the instructions on the form).
