USC ASCE PSWC 2015 Registration Information

 

Conference info:

Dates: April 8 - 12, 2015 (Wednesday - Sunday)
Location: Tucson, AZ 
(hosted by the University of Arizona)
Priority Registration Deadline: Friday, December 5th, 2014

Final Registration Deadline: Monday, January 26, 2015

Registration is now open for USC ASCE members to attend PSWC 2015! The Pacific Southwest Conference (PSWC) brings together over 1000 civil and environmental engineering students for a plethora of competitions, ranging from concrete canoe and steel bridge to dog house, environmental design, sports, and more. USC ASCE members can register for the conference and find all details here.

If you missed the PSWC Info Sessions we held last week, you can view our presentation slides here. Here’s a quick summary of the conference timeline and registration costs:

• November 17th – membership payment due for reduced PSWC cost

• December 5th – priority registration deadline

• January 12-24th – info sessions

• January 19 – April 7th – design & competition team meetings/practices

• January 26th – final registration deadline

• March 1st – team documents due

• March 13th – competition teams finalized, individual schedules released

• April 8-12th – PSWC 2015

Priority Registration – $160

• Friday, December 5, 2014

• Two-payment option available

Final – $180

• Monday, January 26, 2015

• All payments due in full

You MUST become a member of USC ASCE and ASCE nationalsbefore registering for PSWC! $10 off if you pay your USC ASCE membership dues by Monday 11/17/14. Once you fill out the registration form, you can submit payments to our box in KAP 213 OR give to an E-Board member.

The WSCL is sponsored by the Committee on Student Members (CSM) - the national committee that oversees all ASCE Student Organization activities.

The ASCE Los Angeles Section, Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch (MLAB) and Younger Member Forum (LA YMF) are proud to introduce this year's scholarships and awards for ASCE student members and university chapters.  There are many scholarships available to help offset your ever increasing college tuition.

*ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE POST MARKED OR E-MAILED TO THE RESPECTIVE SCHOLARSHIP COORDINATOR BY FRIDAY, January 16, 2015 for the First Deadline.

Internship Opportunity

Intern Engineer - Transportation/Aviation - HNTB 

The Los Angeles, CA (LAX) office has a great opportunity for a civil engineering student.  This position is a Summer 2015 internship in our Aviation Group.  Under close supervision, the intern will assist assigned departments and/or projects by performing routine engineering-related tasks.  This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.

Air Quality Consulting Intern - ENVIRON

ENVIRON is seeking an air quality intern to join the firm’s Los Angeles or Irvine, California office in the summer of 2015. The intern will be working in a challenging and variable environment with a focus on air quality consulting.

Student Professional Worker (Airport Development Group) - Los Angeles World Airports

The intern assigned to the Airport Development Group will assist a Senior Airport Engineer or Engineering Associate in various duties related to Engineering and Project Management. Individual may perform general clerical and administrative duties. Additionally, depending on interests and experience, technical work may be assigned related to the fields of Engineering and Architecture. Student Professional Worker may assist with inspections at job sites and may have the opportunity to frequently visit sites both on and off the airfield.

City of Vernon Internship Position

The City of Vernon is currently looking for an unpaid intern to assist the Public Works Engineering Division.  The Engineering Division’s functions are geared towards the design, construction, and maintenance of municipal properties and infrastructure, and its goal is to provide sound engineering services that ensures public safety and maximizes the taxpayer’s investment.
