USC ASCE PSWC 2015

Conference info:

Dates: April 8 - 12, 2015 (Wednesday - Sunday)
Location: Tucson, AZ (hosted by the University of Arizona)
Registration Deadline: Monday, January 26, 2015
Cost: $180

Registration is now open for USC ASCE members to attend PSWC 2015! The Pacific Southwest Conference (PSWC) brings together over 1000 civil and environmental engineering students for a plethora of competitions, ranging from concrete canoe and steel bridge to dog house, environmental design, sports, and more. USC ASCE members can register for the conference and find all details here.

We’re looking forward to an awesome conference and to defending our 3rd place overall finish from last year! Email uscasce@usc.edu if you have any questions.

ASCE Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch Scholarships

The ASCE Los Angeles Section, Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch (MLAB) and Younger Member Forum (LA YMF) are proud to introduce this year's scholarships and awards for ASCE student members and university chapters.  There are many scholarships available to help offset your ever increasing college tuition.

*ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE POST MARKED OR E-MAILED TO THE RESPECTIVE SCHOLARSHIP COORDINATOR BY FRIDAY, January 16, 2015 for the First Deadline.

APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THROUGH JANUARY 30, 2015 ( SECOND DEADLINE), BUT WILL BE DEDUCTED POINTS DURING SCORING OF THE APPLICATION.

No meetings this week but we'll be meeting Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (February 2-4).  See you there!

Dog House (REAL DOG COMING)

Time: 1:00-2:00 PM 
Location: KAP Lobby

We'll be finalizing the design of our dog house and an actual DOG is coming to give us inspiration!  See you Friday!!!

Steel Bridge

Location: KAP Basement

Steel Bridge has started fabricating the pieces of the bridge!  We still have a lot of work to do so everyone is welcome to attend!

Concrete Canoe

General Canoe Meeting: Friday, Jan. 30 @ 2:00 PM meet in KAP Lobby

We will continue working on the canoe mold in the basement this week!  Pour day is coming up on February 13!

Paddling: Sunday, Feb. 1  @ 9:30 AM, meet outside KAP (Canoe Captains will send an email later this week you can RSVP to)

ASCE Call for Papers

LA YMF invites submissions of high-quality papers describing published technical work, engineering projects, or professionals ethics.  Three prestigious awards are available, including the Collingwood Prize, Daniel W. Mead Prize, and Alfred Noble Award.  Other engineering awards are also available through the same link on ASCE's website: http://www.asce.org/ym_events_and_recognition/
