Since a big part of PSWC (Pacific Southwest Conference) is all the different sports competitions, it is important we train so we can beat the other schools! Especially after our first place finish in Ultimate Frisbee last year, we are hoping to win even more sports this year. Every month we have a sports day, which is where we all meet up and practice sports together. It is a fun way to hangout and get some exercise!
For this month’s sports day we focused on volleyball, since we are hopeful it will make a reappearance at PSWC this year! We learned that the key to volleyball is communication and that it is very important to call the ball and say “MINE!” Our volleyball team now looks ready to go!
This weekend, we held an Order of the Engineer Ceremony, officiated by ASCE Region 9 Director Jay Higgins. The Order of the Engineer is an opportunity to pledge to uphold the duties of an engineer to work ethically and better society.
We had a beach day with the ASCE student chapters from UCLA and CSUB. It was great getting to know civil engineers from other universities while playing sports, watching the sunset, and hanging out by a bonfire at Dockweiler Beach!
Our dog house team is getting ready for an exciting year. Winter, the husky, joined us at our latest meeting yesterday where we decided on a “food truck” theme for this year’s dog house. Join us at our weekly meetings, Fridays 1-2pm in KAP to get involved!
